Adult Developmental Services
Individuals in the Adult Developmental Services (ADS) program have the opportunity to advance their educational experience, develop personal skills, and attend classes outside of their program area. A typical day might include physical therapy, projects in the PATS (PARC Assistive Technology Services) room, a communication class, as well as help with personal care. Another person may participate in sensory activities, a volunteer-led chorus, or cooking classes with the University of Illinois Extension Program. Our goal is to continue to improve our ability to develop and implement truly person-centered plans in order to better support each individual.
Options for Young Adults
The Young Adults room is a new addition to the Adult Developmental Services (ADS) program. This program area provides young adults who have recently graduated the opportunity to continue their education.
We offer lesson plans each month in the areas of math, reading, science, social studies, and computers. Individuals choose a topic of interest and they can spend the month learning about that topic. Young Adult participants have the opportunity to share knowledge with others by completing presentations to other PARC participants and staff members.
The Young Adults room is fortunate to have three internet accessible computers to use throughout the day as well as a library with a variety of books and magazines that can be checked out by our participants.
